North London based producer Books is kicking off 2018 with a bang. Joining forces with one of Stockholm’s finest underground labels, Omena.
Seen by some as the glory child of London label XVI Records, Books’ ability to effortlessly sample Funk, Soul and rare grooves has caught the attention of Omena bossman Tooli. Joining the likes of HNNY, Seb Wildblood and Lancelot to name a few, this EP certainly doesn’t disappoint!
Kicking off the EP with the title track ‘Sour Grapes‘, Books injects layer upon layer of percussion over a delicious warm and supple bass. After that we have ‘Taking Care Of Business’ a Funk infused affair that is sure to get everyone up and dancing. Laurence Guy comes through with a broken, 2-step vibe remix of ‘Sour Grapes‘ for track three of the EP before rounding things off with ‘The Spice Must Flow‘. The last track in the mixing pot ties the whole release together with it’s soft melancholic piano lines, and sultry bass. All round, a wicked release from a very talented producer!!
