The left-leaning underground Hip Hop trio Strangelove combine abstract, coded lyricism with cinematic soundscapes, a style that has appealed to the likes of Homeboy Sandman (Stones Throw Records) and Bradley Zero (Rhythm Section). Their 2013 debut EP ‘Purple’ was ‘unlike anything emanating from the underground’. – Dummy Mag
In 2017 the group released ‘EP1′, an adventurous and experimental offering that gained the band radio play from the likes of John Hillcock on BB6 Music and NTS. In preparation for the release of ‘EP2′ in April we’re excited to premiere their new track ‘Joni’ – a woozy, late night, head-nod of a record that features vocals from long time collaborator and new-wave pop pioneer Bellatrix. Keep up to date with the release by following Strangelove on Bandcamp.
Strangelove are playing the Jazz Cafe this Thursday 15th March where they will be selling advance copies of their new EP. The group are sharing the bill with Wolf Muller, The Colours that Rise and Bradley Zero for a night hosted by South London label Rhythm Section. You can grab the last remaining tickets here.
