The second single from the upcoming self-titled debut album. ‘Gueta’ sees Liquid Salooncollaborating with acclaimed pianist Nitai Hershkovits (Blue Note, Raw Tapes).
Written with Rejoicer and Nitai Hershkovits, ‘Gueta’ is layered with analog drum machine and percussion loops, running alongside acoustic instruments. A blast of synths and complex rhythmic elements. Liquid Saloon is a band formed by three members based in Tel-Aviv, Israel Amir Bresler on drums, Sefi Zisling on trumpet and Nomok on keyboards. Combining elements of African High Life music and Jazz, the band completed their self-titled debut album, to be released digitally and on vinyl by Raw Tapes.
“Liquid Saloon” derives its name from Amir Bresler’s living room, where all of the tunes were conceived and recorded. The album has been entirely co-produced and engineered by the band. An instrumental project (except ‘Won’t Be Led By Fear featuring singer Jenny Penkin), Liquid Saloon recipe consists of 3 main ingredients: groove (which Amir Bresler leads with his drums, percussion, bass and rhythm guitar playing), harmony (with Nomok on the Fender Rhodes and synths) and melody (where Sefi Zisling and his trumpet shines).
During the course of making the album, the band found the intuitive process of improvising and composing together to be the most productive, and most tracks were finished the day they were created. After hours, the three spent time listening to records and were inspired by highlife and Afrobeat artists from the ‘70s such as Ebo Taylor, Alhaji K. Frimpong and Tony Allen. These references, combined with their shared love and appreciation of jazz and funk, helped to shape the sound of Liquid Saloon.
