In 2018 Planetself toured their first release “High Tide”, in their downtime they stayed in the cobble stone canal filled streets of Amsterdam. Linking up with dutch native Kid Sublime, Inkswel and Kid worked on the skeleton idea of what would later become ‘Wanderlust’ at Kid’s padded room studios.
Charli wrote the full song whilst flying back home to sunny Australia, invoking courage and adversity, the song is deep, hopeful, soulful and funky. Backed by remixes from Co-Operation’s own Afronaut, Bruk wonderkid Sivey and of course Amsterdams Kid Sublime.
Added bang on this release sees two Planetself collaborations with germanys Soulparlor with the house leaning ‘Free Fallin’ and Hip Hop soul tinged ‘Get On Up’ featuring Black Jesus Experience front man Mista Monk.
‘Nessies Cookup’ another collab between Inkswel and Kid, beat down boogie house at its finest dedicated to Ness Amsterdam and her traditional Moluccan catering business ‘Nessies’.
Planetself is a community vibration put together by Inkswel and Charli Umami, encompassing influences from Hip Hop Soul through to the 2000s broken beat sound, all mashed up and amalgamated into a unison perfectly displayed in the ‘Wanderlust’ EP.
