In ‘light’ of today’s solstice, when those living above the equator will bathe in sunlight and those south, will see their shortest day, we are excited to announce a premiere of the brand new song and video from Andean singer, Luzmila Carpio as part of her new album, with the same name, on ZZK Records.
Luzmila Carpio, a Bolivian singer and incessant energy for indigenous struggle and female empowerment will release her first album in over 10 years. She has matched up (again) with the revered and globally minded Argentinian label, ZZK. Her sonorous and occasionally birdsong-inspired vocalizations are brought to life with the help of Argentinian producer Leonardo Martinelli (a.k.a. Tremor), a ZZK veteran who’s spent the bulk of his career finding the common ground between Latin American folk rhythms and modern electronics.
The song is an ode to the Father Sun and is the new album’s centerpiece, in which Caprio pays tribute to the divine figure—and the energy he infuses into every element and living being. Powered by gently plucked strings and softly galloping drums, the lilting song is dedicated to our ancient ancestors and their eternal wisdom, but it’s ultimately about interconnection, highlighting the fact that everything in the universe, from the largest celestial.
Luzmila’s last project via ZZK Records back in 2015, was a collection of remixes of her work with cuts delivered by of Nicola Cruz, El Buho and Chancha Via Circuito.
