Spiritual jazz quartet Ill Considered return with a third free-flowing album of improvisations based loosely around simple pre-written themes or composed on the spot.
Tinted with a mystical calm, Incantation is the second track on the release and premieres ahead of the forthcoming ‘Ill Considered 3’, dropping on April 1st. Lazy bass harmonics offset a downtempo, psychedelic journey, gently oscillating beneath fluid drums and hypnotic sax motifs. It’s emblematic of an album spiritual and meditative in essence with a broad variety of textures.
Ill Considered 3 was conceived in the the same studio in which the band created their first album. Primed to explore improvisations as well as prepared material, the four musicians soon realised their pre-written tunes were no match for the energy and spontaneity conjured by their fully improvised jam sessions. The ethereal soundscapes, atmospheres and dreamy groove-based journeys are founded in an intuitive musical freedom tied to a deeply felt creative interaction and the interspersion of hooky bass lines and melodies.
Ill Considered are:
Leon Brichard – Bass
Idris Rahman – Sax
Emre Ramazanoglu – Drums
Satin Singh – Percussion
Along with the improvised band tracks, there are three short solo tracks from bass, drums and sax all recorded, mixed and mastered by Emre Ramazanoglu at Hoxa HQ. Find out more and preorder the album here.
